Model of care

Research and the international urgent care evidence base

Urgent care is a defined level of care with published standards internationally. Our model of care draws on that evidence base.

Quick answer
We are an urgent care clinic informed by international standards. We do not claim accreditation or Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (Medicare UCC) status on this website — our role is to deliver walk-in urgent care in line with published good practice.

Frameworks we draw on

RNZCUC (New Zealand)

The Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care defines urgent care as the treatment of injury and illness that requires prompt attention but is not immediately life-threatening. It publishes training and scope standards for urgent care doctors.

Medicare UCC (Australia)

The Australian Government's Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (Medicare UCC) program describes a national model for bulk-billed urgent care, with defined presentations, on-site diagnostics and safe transfer pathways.

NHS UTC (United Kingdom)

The UK's NHS Urgent Treatment Centres describe a standardised service for urgent but non-emergency care, with GP-led teams, consistent hours and defined referral routes.

How we apply this locally

  • A defined scope of urgent-care presentations, by body system
  • Clear escalation and transfer pathways to hospital emergency care
  • Transparent fees and inclusions
  • Plain-language patient information for safe self-triage
